Something strange is coming to Vashon Island this Halloween! 👻
For one night only, The Natural History Museum will venture into the supernatural, transforming the exterior of Vashon, Washington’s oldest church (established in 1885) into a giant animated canvas, complete with ghostly apparitions and other things that go bump in the night.
This playful experiment marks our first public test of projection mapping, a technique that brings buildings, landscapes, and other physical surfaces to life through light and moving images. It’s also a sneak peek at a new medium we’re exploring for large-scale, site-specific public art and environmental and social justice storytelling.
Special thanks to Vashon United Methodist Church and Mind Set Apothecary for hosting us!
